Heather Bailey Sewing Pattern - Saturday Market Bag

The Saturday Market Bag sewing pattern designed by Heather Bailey.

This pattern includes instructions and pattern pieces for expandable shopping totes with three variations on the main bag design and two of these are reversible.  This is a roomy bag design which includes optional magnetic snaps in it's construction.

The Saturday MARKET BAG (21”w x 12”h x 5”d finished size, 21”h incl. handles)

    Style One (contrast sides on exterior and lining, plus contrast bow)
        • 1 5/8 yd fabric*
        • 7/8 yd contrast fabric* (for bag sides & bow)
        • 1 yd light-weight white or cream canvas 
               (or cotton duck)
        • 1/4 yd medium-weight interfacing
               (either fusible or non-fusible) 
        • 2 sets of magnetic purse snaps (optional)
        • Thread

    Style Two (same fabric for exterior and lining & no bow)
        • 2 yd fabric*
        • 1 yd light-weight white or cream canvas
               (or cotton duck)
        • 2 sets of magnetic purse snaps (optional)
        • Thread

    Style Three (different fabric for exterior and lining & no bow)
        • 1 1/8 yd fabric*
        • 1 1/8 yd lining fabric*
        • 1 yd light-weight white or cream canvas
               (or cotton duck)
        • 2 sets of magnetic purse snaps (optional)
        • Thread

    Pins, scissors, iron, hand-sewing needles,
    water-soluble marker, seam ripper

* Suitable fabrics include quilting-weight cotton, light-weight decorator fabric, and other light- to medium-weight woven fabrics, 44”/45” wide. Do not use stretchy fabrics such as wovens with lycra content, or knits.
